Do you know how awesome CORR (Championship Off Road Racing) is?
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009I just spent all weekend at the races in Chula Vista. It is hands down the most exciting racing ever. Ever.
I wonder if anyone from around here is into that sort of thing? Did anyone catch the races?

I feel your pain, Snakebite. It’s too bad that the midwest racers and organizers weren’t willing to work harder for an east-west series. I know for a fact that the new owner of CORR would have continued to run the Crandon and Bark River races and very likely would have supported a midwest series. However, racers and promoters in the midwest felt like they would be better off on their own and pushed for the split. I wonder ifthey are regretting that in hindsight, especially since the race the new midwest series was supposed to have this past weekend was canceled due to a lack of racers. Sure, working with the new owner might have meant fewer races in the midwest than years prior, but at leastthe races that WERE there would be top notch. The Baldwins have done everything they promised to do when they bought the series. Sold out events. Major network coverage. Permanent venues.
And I **** to break it to you, but with the desert racing scene here on the west coast there is a HUGE fan base that has been here all along. I have seen the stands at some of the smaller CORR races in years past. Crandon labor day was the only race to get really big numbers. You can’t expect someone to keep a series there when attendance at most races ******. WSORR shouldn’t have pushed for a split and they DEFINITELY shouldn’t have scheduled races ont he same weekends. That was just dumb. I feel bad that you guys won’t be able to easily see the new levels short course racing is headed for, but I also think this was a case of the midwest racers and the current WSORR organizers shooting themselves in the foot. Too bad because the events just keep getting better. Maybe if you could get someone a little more professional to run the midwest series there will be hope for combined series events in the future. You can never have too much short course racing!
